Root canal – Endodontics

Endodontic treatment, also called root canal therapy, is necessary when the pulp of the tooth is infected. This can occur in the case of a cracked tooth or during trauma (shock, broken tooth, etc.). Frequently, infection occurs when cavities have been neglected and become severe. The latter always attacks the tooth more deeply until it reaches its center, the pulp. This inflammation can lead to abscess and quickly cause acute and radiating pain.

There is a suspicion of deep tooth involvement that may require root canal treatment when the following signs are observed:

When the pulp is affected, lesions in the nerve of the tooth are often irreversible. A simple shutter is not adequate to solve the problem. To relieve the patient, the dentist must perform root canal treatment and devitalize the tooth by removing the infected nerve.
